Rigid-Foldable Parabolic Deployable Reflector Concept Based on the Origami Flasher Pattern

This paper presents a novel deployable reflector concept based on the origami flasher pattern. The proposed folding architecture achieves rigid foldability for patterns applied to doubly curved surfaces, allowing parabolic reflectors be divided into number of panels efficient stowage. Such an provides intermediate solution between current rigid-surface and flexible-surface reflectors, offering both surface precision stowage compactness. have positive-finite degree mobility, so reliable deterministic deployment is realized through suitable actuation. A Bayesian optimization approach used in conjunction with kinematics collision models order find optimal that accommodate finite thickness supporting structures. For generated patterns, panel split line geometries are designed analytically eliminate gaps while avoiding at edges during folding.
